What is jftpgw
jftpgw is an FTP proxy/gateway that uses the FTP protocol (unlike those FTP proxies that fetch an FTP file but work as an http proxy). You can use it to make servers behind a firewall/NAT server (masquerading server) accessible or to allow users behind such solutions to transfer files to and from the outside of the LAN.

If you want to know more about jftpgw's abilities, please see the features page.

What's new (read from bottom to top)
  • Since then: Waiting for feedback :-)
  • Dec 12th: If you like to, check out the new beta version here. Get an impression of the new features from the new configuration docs
  • Jun 3rd: jftpgw 0.13.5 released. See ChangeLog for details
  • Jun 3rd: There is a development version. See the download page for details

  • Apr 11th: A new version of jftpgw is out. jftpgw 0.13.1 is a bugfix version only, solving authentication problems with loginstyle 7, enabling processes that encountered a timeout to terminate correctly and fixing an issue of the "transparent-forward" option.
  • Feb 28th: I think I have waited long enough and so today I have released jftpgw 0.13.0.
  • Feb 3rd: jftpgw 0.13.beta.j available.
  • Jan 26th 2002: jftpgw 0.13.beta.i available.

  • Nov 7th: jftpgw 0.0.13f available.
  • Aug 3rd: jftpgw-0.12.0 available. I shifted the version number to the left since numbering the versions with two zeroes and therefore letters at the end didn't make much sense :-) Furthermore the next version will differ a lot from this one. Maybe I'll introduce the kernel scheme, with odd and even version numbers for unstable and stable versions.
  • Jul 24th: jftpgw 0.0.12 available.
  • Jul 20th: 0.0.13b available. This is a development version!
  • Apr 21st: 0.0.11f becomes jftpgw 0.0.12pre with a small set of bugfixes
  • Feb 18th: I'd like to release a new version of jftpgw soon, I've just added two other important things and changed the version number to jftpgw 0.0.11f
    • xferlog style logging feature
    • Transparent proxy support for Linux 2.4.x kernel
    • Logging through the syslog is now possible
  • Feb 4th: Welcome to 2001 - There are some new features in my current jftpgw CVS version so I make it publicly available
    • Bugfixes :-)

    • You may configure port ranges so that the proxy chooses ports from these ranges for PASV answers and PORT commands
    • Two new security options. The IP/port combination in the PORT command is checked
    • Compiles on Windows NT (cygnus tools, not really tested)
    • Works on OS/2 (see Link: jftpgw for OS/2)
